1.      Dusky langurs / monkeys entering your house?

a) Make loud noises to deter the monkeys (without any contact with the species).
b) Manage your garbage and food waste nicely.
c) Avoid placing food around your house compound.
d) Keep your house doors and windows closed to avoid monkeys from entering.
e) Do not feed the monkeys! Feeding will only encourage them to enter your house even frequently.
* Only call PERHILITAN as your last resort in this case, to avoid potential culling. Translocation process is challenging and cannot be done in a day, as it requires detailed planning among stakeholders.

2.      Roadkill Incidents

a) Contact PERHILITAN hotline at 1800 88 5151
b) Take photos, record the location, time & date of incident, and inform LPP.
c) Try not to touch the animal.
d) If there is a need to move the injured animal to safe area, please handle the animal with precautions. Wear gloves and a mask. Sanitise hands and objects (e.g. container, car seat) that have been in physical contact with that animal.

3.      Injured (by dogs / vehicles / electrocution)

a) Contact PERHILITAN hotline at 1800 88 5151
b) Take photos, record the location, time & date of incident, and inform LPP.
c) Try not to touch the animal.
d) If there is a need to move the injured animal to safe area, please handle the animal with precautions. Wear gloves and a mask. Sanitise hands and objects (e.g. container, car seat) that have been in physical contact with that animal.
e) Communicate with PERHILITAN on the condition of the injured animal and be constantly keeping them updated while also asking for the proximity to the arrival of their staff.
* In case you got the permission from PERHILITAN to handle and take the injured animal to a nearby veterinary clinic, ask whether the costs of consultation and treatment would be covered by the authority.

4.      Crop Raiding

a) Wrap your fruits well with reusable bags (e.g. cloth, linen), and make sure to harvest on time.
b) Adopt some free roaming dogs in your garden/farm/orchard.
c) Create a buffer zone in your orchard with local native food plants of the monkeys.
d) Manage your waste nicely to avoid attention from the monkeys.

5.      Report wildlife crime

If you ever encounter any incident of:
a) Poaching/killing of wild animals
b) Selling, buying or owning a wild animal as a pet
c) Wild animal abuse
